Engraving silicone with a laser can be accomplished by simply changing the surface color or deep engraving. When a color change is required, depending on the silicone, this is accomplished by changing the color to a darker or lighter tone than the existing silicone color. Deep engraving of silicone is performed by melting the silicone to the point of vaporization by the laser beam. This creates a noticeable recess that may or may not exhibit a color difference. There are no limits to a design. However, it is best to laser bold solid areas and lines for the best results.
The silicone ice tray products that our customer provided were laser marked with a contrasting dark mark of the company logo.

Deep engraving of silicone is accomplished by melting the silicone to the point of vaporization by the laser beam.—most of the time, the deep engraving results in no color change. Depending on the molecular makeup of the silicone, deep engraving may change, as in this case, to a contrasting white.
